Chapter One

Writing, self-publishing and the craziness involved therin.

A Discovery of Witches: A Novel (All Souls Trilogy)

A Discovery of Witches - Deborah Harkness Wow, what a great book! It took me a little bit to get into it, but once I did, I could hardly put it down. The characters were well developed, the plot just got more and more intricate as it went along. My only complaint is what they're charging for the next book because I know that I'm going to have to buy it, no matter what!

A Demon Bound

A Demon Bound - Debra Dunbar Loads of fun! I love the turn around of the demon being the heroine and the angel being the antagonist!

How to Distract a Duchess

How to Distract a Duchess - Mia Marlowe Loads of fun!

Bones to Ashes: A Novel (Temperance Brennan Novels)

Bones to Ashes - Kathy Reichs This was a pleasant read, but not the best mystery. There was no urgency. Nothing to keep me reading. I continued because I'd started it. It was the first Temperance Brennan book I'd read -- after watching the show "Bones" for years. I enjoyed this Brennan, very different from the tv show, but I needed a sense of urgency. As I said, it was pleasant, but I'm not rushing off to get another book in the series.

Blue Moon (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 8)

Blue Moon - Laurell K. Hamilton I'm not very far into this book, but so far it's only ok. I'm having trouble believing that this heroine who is less than "larger-than-life" is all that she claims to be -- nearly superhero to the paranormal world.

Sexiest Vampire Alive (Love at Stake)

Sexiest Vampire Alive - Kerrelyn Sparks I absolutely hated... the fact that I couldn't put this book down. I had to force myself to do so because I wanted to draaaag out this funny, wonderful story! Gregori (Gori, for short - love that!) is in deep trouble -- he's been chosen to represent the Vampires to the President of the U.S. who's just learned that they exist. It's a tricky task balancing showing that Vampires are not to be feared while also trying to not look like a total wimp.
Abigail Tucker is the eldest daughter of the president and a scientist determined to discover a way to save her terminally ill mother's life. She also doesn't believe in Vampires because scientifically they can't exist -- until she meets Gregori.
There is, naturally, an immediate attraction and inability in both to not think about the other. There is fun (as there is in all of Sparks' books) and excitement (again) and a beautiful romance and it was just so hard to believe that it was actually over when I closed the back cover of the book. I wanted it to go on and on.

Retribution

Retribution - Sherrilyn Kenyon Another fabulous Sherrilyn Kenyon, what more can I say? The Native American mythology was different and loads of fun. I look forward to reading more in this new thread (?)/series (?).
